Innovation and Entrepreneurship through Thermal Analysis of Composite Materials and Process
August 12th, 2009 | Seattle, WA
This one-day workshop will explore the fundamentals of polymer characterization by thermal analysis through the presentation of R. B. Prime’s book ( Thermal Analysis of Polymers: Fundamental and Applications, J. M. Menczel and R. B. Prime, eds., John Wiley & Sons, 2009) as well as through lectures and demonstrations by thermal analysis experts. Three case studies will be examined through round-table discussions: Leasing of Thermal Analysis Equipment, Ritual of the Cremation Process and its Thermal Science, and Thermal Analysis for Environmental and Ecological Characterizations. The goal is for participants to take ideas generated by these case studies on technology research and extrapolate to an entrepreneurial and risk taking mode in a broad area of science technology as well as in everyday life. Heatcon Composite Systems - GloCal Cooperation
August 28th, 2008 | Seattle, WA
Thanks to the on-growing cooperation with Heatcon Composite Systems, a new module has been added to GloCal's laboratory.
A Repair Clave, designed and manufactured by Heatcon, was delivered to our facility on Thursday, August 28th 2008.
This clave is a semi-portable, pressure vessel, designed to provide controlled temperature, vacuum and pressure for repair of
composite and metal-bonded parts that require higher pressures than can be achieved by vacuum only.
It works in similar manner as an AutoClave, the only difference is that the heat is applied through heat blankets.
